2012 HyLee Production and Consignment Auction Results
This year we had several new consignors bring horses to the auction and also many new buyers from the United States and Canada. We had several nice horses from Wyoming with Anne Mears and Mallory Magnot and also horses from Ohio and New Jersey. Again, there were many new Morgan owners who are new to the Morgan breed.
There were a total of 40 horses consigned. Of that total there was one who was vetted out not to travel and that left 39 who went through the auction ring. There were 6 horses whose reserve was not achieved (RNA). The average price on 33 head was $2206.00. We had DVAuction again offer the preview live of which there were 329 who watched Friday night. On Saturday 424 viewers who logged in, a total of 46 Bidders who applied specifically to this auction since we started using on line bidding watched the auction. That number is more than double the bidders we had on line in 2011. A total of 7 new bidders who applied this year.
The top selling horse was an elegant black mare, Sarde’s Scintillation by Lamborghini In Black and out of a full sister to Stonecroft Trilogy, consigned by Joanna Meyers and presented beautifully by Jim and Michelle McCleester. Tim and Carol Selinsky were the lucky bidders after a competitive bidding war. She sold for $17,200.00 and will most likely after her show career be added to Whispering War Chant’s harem. Second highest selling for $5100 was GVA Manifesto consigned by Linda Tabers-Kwak. This wonderful hunter gelding made a trip to Canada for Robert Turney. He is a very elegant well-trained horse who has a great show record behind him. Following closely in third highest at $5000 was a very special consignment from Arcola Farm, Rowenda’s French Twist. A gelding who has WC titles in pleasure driving and is also a very sharp riding horse went to the happy bidder, Tessa Englund. Mallory Magnot and her husband, Seth, claimed the 4th highest selling horse, HyLee’s Zerelda James, selling for $3000.00. Zerelda is a very well trained 3-year old by HyLee’s Galaxy Seven and is the last offspring of the grand HyLee producer, HyLee’s Teardrop. Dan Lynch has trained this mare under western tack. HyLee Farm purchased the 5th high seller, Arcola’s Top Cadet, a 3-year old gelding who rides and drives and will be very competitive in the hunter division in 2013.
The majority of the horses fell in the 3 to 9-year old range and was a great selection of horses who were very solid in their training for their division. We had very active bidding on several horses over the internet and 5 horses were sold into Canada.
The average price per horse was lower than last year for a comparable horse. It is hard to say if it was the economy or the election. Our first auction was done in 2008, an election year, and I noticed similar type of bidding.
The HyLee Auction wouldn’t be possible without the HyLee Staff headed up by Melanie Jelle and LaVern Stampfli, The wonderful consignors and their agents who presented the horses so beautifully and in such top condition, and the buyers who bid with determination to own the horse they selected to take home. Special thanks go to Bill Addis Auctioneer, Dr. Dean Meyer who read pedigrees, Terry Addis who managed the office and ringmen, Herb Pledger and Joe Doctor. Bill Addis and his associates run a good auction working the best for the seller and are fair to the buyer.

GVA Manifesto
(Cabot Manifest Destiny x KLN Easter Bonnie)
This magnificent 1999 Bay Gelding will catch the judge’s eye! With his elegant headset and profile, Fez can steal the show! He has taken a rider all the way to OKC, where they placed 7th in 2008 in GN English Pleasure Junior Exhibitor 14 & 15. Fez has also placed Top Ten in WC English Pleasure Junior Exhibitor 14-17 in 2009. In hunt seat competition, Fez has given a 13 & under beginning rider lots of champion ribbons in Academy Classes in 2010-2011. He’s the perfect horse for junior exhibitor divisions, and he’s the right Morgan to take a young rider to the next competition level. He has been in English Pleasure in the past, and would be nice in Classic. A farrier’s dream and a gentleman with lead line and in the cross ties, Fez has a great attitude and work ethic. Due to a severe family health issue, Fez must be sold.

JW Judy Whitney Airess
(HVK Bell Flaire x Noble Airess)
2007 Chestnut Mare. "Judy" is one tastey-trottin' mare. She can strut with the best of them. She is a golden chestnut trimmed with a flowing flaxen mane and tail. She drives and rides. She has a big trot with very little shoe weight or length of foot. Then there is her pedigree …she is a full sister to the multi-World Champion, JW Special Flaire, sired by HVK Bell Flaire and out of Judy Whitney's "blue hen" mare, Noble Airess, a full sister to Noble Flaire. With the combination of talent and pedigree you can't go wrong with this mare. A mare of these qualities is hard to find and his hard for HyLee to have leave the farm. We are down sizing and that is the only reason she is available. Don't let her slip away, Be The Last Bidder.

The Devils Dodging Grace
(HyLee Artful Dodger x HyLee's Goodness Gracious)
2009 Black Gelding. "Remmy stands about 15:2 as a 3 year old with some growing left to do. He has had 90 days of professional training with Dan Lynch. He has all the basics down solid and is ready to finish him however you want to ride. He has been ridden western and hunt seat. He is also good on the trail. When he has been turned out for a period of 3 weeks, he can come in to ride again and doesn't miss a beat. He rides with a smooth snaffle "O" ring. He stands well for the farrier and vet, cross ties, lunges and long lines. He likes to work. He loads into the trailer with no problem. He is current on his shot, Coggins, feet and teeth.

Troika's Midnightnmoscow
(Hillfield Night Rider x Troika's Oksana)
Dan Yoder trained a horse last year that created a lot of bidding because of how trained it was for trail riding and how gentle it was for a child or amateur. This year we have another one . Midnight is a 6 year old dark brown gelding and stands about 15:2. He is quiet to be around and is gentle enough for a child or amateur on the trails and will do western pleasure also. Dan Yoder trained horses always create a lot of interest.
